WHAT ARE THE MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT MAY BENEFIT FROM PHOTOLUMINESCENCE?

The following are a list of medical conditions that may be significantly improved by the treatment:

  • Viral Infections
  • Candidiasis (fungal infections)
  • Venom Poisoning
  • Bacterial Infections
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Poor Oxygen
  • Toxicity
  • Blood Poisoning
  • Poor Circulation
  • Low Blood Counts
  • Allergies
  • Asthma
  • Emphysema
  • Cancer-adjunctive conditions
  • Diabetes Complications
  • Poor Immune Function
  • Rheumatologic Diseases
  • Arthritis-adjunctive conditions

WHY IS ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT EXPOSURE BENEFICIAL TO THE BLOOD?

Exposing the blood to the ultraviolet light has been shown to have the following effects:

  • Increase in the oxygen combining power of the blood.
  • Inactivation of toxins and viruses.
  • Destruction and inhibition of fungal and bacterial growth.
  • Activation of the immune system.

The blood that is exposed to the ultraviolet light continues to emit secondary radiation. Some scientists believe this may be the way ultraviolet blood irradiation has cumulative effects. Each treatment builds on and enchances the effects of previous treatment

WHAT IS PHOTOX THERAPY AND HOW DOES IT WORK

Photox is the application of either ozone or hydrogen peroxide and ultraviolet therapy to a patient at the same time. It is one of the most powerful therapies for restoring oxidative metabolism.

There are two methods of doing photox therapy, including using hydrogen peroxide intravenous in one arm, and then within an hour doing ultraviolet irradiation in the other arm; however, ozone and UV is more convenient for both the patient and the doctor, and tends to be more effective for most chronic diseases. The exception may be in cancer, where the peroxide-UV combination may be best.

The blood is withdrawn, being exposed to UV light on the way into the bottle. Ozone in an mixture of oxygen/ozone with 78 ug/ml ozone concentration is then bubbled into the blood and mixed briefly. This mixture is then reinfused through the same needle.

This combination treatment is a powerful weapon to help combat the fight against many chronic diseases. These two treatments in combination address most of the common biological denominators in the disease process at the cellular level. Specifically, the two treatments in combination:

  • Increases the oxygen carrying capability
  • Corrects the mitochondrial energy deficits in the blood
  • Stimulates the lymphatic detoxification in the blood through the restoration of normal chylomicrom brownian movement
  • Activates immune system cells and cytokine production (interferon, tumor necrosis factor and IL-2) to aid in destruction of all types of micro-organisms: bacteria, viruses, and fungi
  • Increases intracellular antioxidants against oxidative stress
  • Helps destroy cancer cells

ARE THESE THERAPIES SAFE?

Ozone is perhaps the safest medical procedure. A survey done in Germany of close to 5 million treatments showed an accident rate of 7 serious incidents, all associated with direct IV injection of the gas (not done in our clinic).

Hydrogen peroxide intravenously has a long history of safe use, with the first administrations given to fight the worst pneumonia cases. People often do not understand that oxidants are vital to health. Most people who are ill are not suffering because of an excess of free radical exposure or oxidant stress, but because their ability to buffer free radicals with the appropriate intracellular proteins (glutathione, superoxide dismutase) is diminished. The measured application of oxidative therapies induces the restoration of free radical buffering capacity, corrects cellular oxygen metabolism, and activates the immune system.

Photoluminescence therapy was used extensively in the 30's to 40's before the advent of antibiotics and the vaccine for polio. It has an extensive safety and efficacy record. For a great summary of this treatment, buy the book "Into the Light" at www.drdouglass.com.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED AND HOW OFTEN ARE THEY GIVEN?

In chronic conditions one to three treatments per week are common until response is obtained. Most patients, such as those with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, or arthritis may take 2 treatments a week for 3 weeks and then once a week for 4 weeks. In recurrent genital herpes and shingles a special unique protocol is utilized, as described by Frank Shallenberger. Daily treatments are given during an outbreak. The effect is that the outbreak is usually much shorter with much less pain. The treatment is given again if there is another outbreak, but the spacing between outbreaks grows and then in some cases can be prevented from recurring.

Ozone therapy

Ozone has many different applications used to treat heart disease, cancer, infection, pain, hepatitis, ulcerative colitis and so on. It is a very powerful therapy that helps increase oxygenation, detoxification and immune stimulation. There are only a limited number of clinics in North America that offers this treatment. Dr. Santos is board certified to perform Ozone therapy.
