Therapies › Chronic painDr. Santos has had a tremendous amount of success treating chronic pain. PROLOTHERAPY is the treatment of choice. Please refer to the Prolotherapy page for information on this treatment. Pain originating from low back, knees, hips, shoulder and headaches have responded very well to treatment. What is chronic pain? While acute pain is a normal sensation triggered in the nervous system to alert you to possible injury and the need to take care of yourself, chronic pain is different. Chronic pain persists. Pain signals keep firing in the nervous system for weeks, months, even years. There may have been an initial mishap -- sprained back, serious infection, or there may be an ongoing cause of pain -- arthritis, cancer, ear infection, but some people suffer chronic pain in the absence of any past injury or evidence of body damage. Many chronic pain conditions affect older adults. Common chronic pain complaints include headache, low back pain, cancer pain, arthritis pain, neurogenic pain (pain resulting from damage to the peripheral nerves or to the central nervous system itself), psychogenic pain (pain not due to past disease or injury or any visible sign of damage inside or outside the nervous system). Is there any treatment?Definitely, Dr. Santos uses PROLOTHERAPY and mesotherapy to treat pain. Prolotherapy treats pain by strengthening tendons and ligaments that support a joint. Typically, pain persist when ligaments are stretched and damages. It takes years to heal a ligament or tendon and sometimes it does not fully heal. The reason being is there is lack of blood flow in these tissues. As a result, muscle contract leading to muscle pain and nerve compression. Prolotherapy addresses the underlying cause of pain. Sometimes massage and supplementation is also recommended as part of the Pain program. |
Colds and fluAcute infections can be quite debilitating
especially to an immunocompromised or elderly individual.
Photoluminescence and Hydrogen peroxide therapy can be used to help
fight the infection. Treatments are typically performed everyday for up
to 3 days. Patients will notice a reduction in symptoms in 2 days.
These treatments work by stimulating the immune system and killing the
infection directly. |
